Arabic Language School of Northern California

Arabic Language School of Northern California Faculty Academics

Welcome! اهلا بك

The Arabic Language School is located in Citrus Grove, California, on the outskirts of Sacramento. Founded in 2002, ALS offers elementary through post-advanced courses throughout the summer. ALS aims to add a full year program by the fall of 2008.

In addition to the three years of intructional level Arabic,  ALS offers courses in dialects, literature, and post-advanced courses taught in Arabic on such topics as Middle Eastern history and current events.

ALS Degree Program

In addition to individual classes open to the public, ALS also offers an Associate Degree program in conjunction with Citrus Grove Community College. Students are required to complete general education requirements at CGCC and earn credits toward an Arabic language major at ALS. ALS graduates acheive roughly the same education as a four-year program at a university, the reason being the accelarated classes. In addition to 6 semester-levels of instructional Modern Standard Arabic, students complete the equivalent of 2 semsters of electives.

"I learned more during the summer at ALS than I did in my entire graduate program at the UC."

--Meghan Connelly, Ph.D. candidate at UCLA
